Assignment #1: Eva

Ok, so given that I need to get pictures off of my dad's camera for the Carrefour Laval project, I'm going to start by posting my Assignment #1. I went to the barn tonight and took some pictures of the barn owners' oldest daughter, Alexandria.

This is the field across the street from the barn, and what I used as my landscape.

Then I decided to get artsy and throw in some grass... noticing now that the sky kind of sucks.

And this is Alex... the picture looks a little washed out, but I think it looks kind of neat... "softer". (I think that blur to the left is grass).

Then I made her move into a sunny part of the field... the pictures didn't look too bad on my camera, but once loaded onto the computer, they're not so hot. The background in this picture, as well as the previous one, is fuzzy.

I was flipping through a photography book at lunch today and the author was saying that dusk and dawn was THE time to take landscape pictures, and that editors at National Geographic won't look at a photo if it wasn't shot at dusk or dawn, so I dragged Alex across the street again for a few more shots (not like there was anything else to do, the power was off all evening). The background in this shot is a little sharper than the last two.

Going to try again later this week with my 50mm prime lens, and maybe try this little experiment for fun, too! http://www.diyphotography.net/diy_create_your_own_bokeh
